Thought about making your own compost, but lost interest when you had to build a structure to house it? You're not alone. Many composting-enthusiasts lose interest when the process becomes too time consuming and requires too much space.
Regional Gardening News suggests the following fail-safe and easy recipe for even the laziest of gardeners.
1. Fill a plastic garbage bag with dried leaves, cuttings and grass clippings.2. Poke a few small holes in the bag for good air circulation.
3. Wet the material thoroughly.
4. Add a shovelful of soil to add microorganisms to the mix.
5. Shake the bag every couple of weeks and make sure to keep the materials moist.
It will take four or more months to have dark crumbly compost without taking up a whole lot of space and very little effort.
